I wasn’t sure what to expect, but these pickups fit exactly what I had in mind for a HSS strat-ish build. Bright, but vocal sounding neck single-coil, and “meow” growl with the humbucker. Push-pull is nice. Wiring, pots and switch are upgrades from the standard cheap overseas gear. Well done.
This is a great replacement with coil tap for a Strat or Strat style guitar. The fit and finish was spot on with the only soldering was to the output jack. Easy Peasey instructions and installation. The alnico sound is not as harsh as the ceramic pickups that were originally on the guitar. Ceramic pickups can sound harsh and hot whereas the alnicos were a bit more midrange sounding. Totally satisfied with my purchase and sound.
Great loaded pick guard! The price that they are selling this for is practically a steal!The only thing I changed on the pick guard was the push-pull switch that came stock on the unit. It felt a little too loose while spinning. Much looser than the other tone knob and volume knob.I ordered a new “push-push” switch, which I like better anyways; and replace the stock push-pull switch. This fixed the loose feeling.Overall, this was a great purchase! Super happy with how this thing sounds! Great tone! Great price!
15.76k humbucker I bought another great but needs a bigger tranister
I used this for my first build. I basically created a Franken-strat out of parts that I got through various sources. The relic'd body kind of fell in my lap but putting together a full relic is a bit pricey for me at this point (hence the neck). This pickguard is a great deal for under 40 bucks. Comes with 3 pickups fully wired with modern screw spacing. My body was blank so no issues try to fit existing screw holes. I finished it up yesterday and am chasing down a couple of issues with the build.The only one that is related to the electronics is a buzz that is audible in certain positions. I have not removed the pickguard yet to chase it down, started with resoldering the jack and that helped a bit. It may be the bridge ground connection - I will check that next. Some of the shielding on the back of the guard got messed up in shipping/handling I do not think that is the problem, but why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 (maybe a little nit-picky on my part).The single pickups are clean, the hummer is a little weak but not too muddy. The knobs are smooth and no static. The selector is fine for my use. I like the cloth wiring and the labeled leads are a nice touch. All in all I am thrilled that this project sounds as good as it does for under $150. Is it the best loaded pickup out there? - of course not, but this is a price point any amateur builder can live with and still get good results.
